One of 2 injured friends in critical condition; property owner detained while trying to escape
A 15-year-old boy died of electrocution from an illegal electric fence set up to fend off wild boars in Vazhikkadavu, near Nilambur, on Saturday night. Ananthu, aka Jithu, a Class 10 student, was heading to a nearby stream for fishing along with three of his cousins when the mishap occurred.
According to initial investigations, the group was proceeding to the stream after playing football. The boys were navigating a private property when three of them inadvertently came in contact with the live fence reportedly erected by the landowner. Ananthu died on the spot. Two others, Yadhu Krishnan and Sanu, suffered injuries, with the latter in critical condition. The fourth youngster had a narrow escape and raised an alarm.
