FOR the first time in many years, the incremental inflows into the systematic investments plans (SIPs) saw a marginal decline of ₹59 crore at ₹26,400 crore in January month-on-month basis after more than 25 lakh SIP folios were cancelled by stock exchanges.
The total assets managed by the mutual funds industry was at ₹67.25 lakh crore in January, a decline from ₹68.62 lakh crore in December; however, in a year-on-year basis, the industry saw a 27.5% growth. This is in spite of the fact that equity inflows continued to gain for a record 47th month of incremental inflows even though equity benchmarks declined 130 bps in the month.
