State Govt's Financial Aid Scheme for Rubber Cultivation Draws Flak

Growers say that initiative's selective district coverage will deprive many of Rubber Board benefits
In a major initiative to boost rubber cultivation in the state, the government has launched a new project — Kerala Climate Resilient Agri-Value Chain Modernisation (KERA) — aimed at providing financial assistance of up to ₹75,000 to farmers.
The initiative is being implemented by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department and the Department of Industries, in collaboration with the World Bank. As part of the project, farmers who possess 25 cents to 2.5 acres of land can apply for financial assistance for cultivating rubber in two phases.
The project will cover farmers in six districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Malappuram, and Kannur.
