CONTINUOUS heavy rain with strong wind reaching up to 65 kmph wreaked havoc across Pathanamthitta district, damaging as many as 105 houses, prompting authorities to open 10 relief camps to accommodate affected families.
The district administration has issued multiple alerts as water level in major dams continues to rise, with both the Pampa and Moozhiyar reservoirs nearing their maximum capacities.
As per the official data, 105 houses were partially damaged across six taluks, while two in Ranni were fully destroyed. The worst-hit areas include Ranni (30 houses), Konni (19), Tiruvalla (18), Mallappally (18), Adoor (12), and Kozhencherry (8). In the Laha area, heavy wind reached up to 65 kmph, uprooting several trees on the Ranni-Erumeli stretch.
