IUML Flays Hameed Faizy's Statements Against Christmas Cake-Cutting Events

THE statement made by Abdul Hameed Faizy Ambalakkadavu, the state working secretary of Sunni Yuvajana Sangham (SYS), against participating in the rituals and celebrations of other religions has sparked a significant reaction from the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).
Faizy's remarks come at a time when the IUML leadership is working hard to maintain good relations with the Christian community.
Faizy's statements are widely seen as a reaction to IUML state president Panakkad Syed Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal's participation in a Christmas celebration with Bishop Varghese Chakkalakal in Kozhikode, which included cutting a cake to mark the occasion.
