Punalur bypass included in Centre's annual plan; awaits alignment nod

Proposed alignment, currently under review, spans 11.793km with a road width of 30-45m
THE proposed Punalur National Highway Bypass, aimed at decongesting traffic in Punalur town, has been included in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' annual plan for 2025-26. The project is currently awaiting clearance from the Alignment Approval Committee.
Initially, four alignments were prepared by the consulting agency. A fifth option - formulated following a recent committee meeting held at the district Collectorate - has now been submitted for consideration. The Alignment Approval Committee's nod for one of these alignments is essential for the project to move forward.
