Walkway, lighting suffer from neglect | Plan to set up football stadium makes little progress
IN A classic case of wasting taxpayers' money, the Chakkuvalli bund, once envisioned as a public recreational space, has now turned into a hotspot for illegal activities due to stalled development projects. Located in Sooranadu South, the area had shown promise after conservation and beautification works were announced.
Around ₹1 crore was sanctioned by the district and block panchayats for developing a walkway and installing lighting. For a brief period, the bund attracted morning and evening walkers. However, incomplete works and lack of maintenance have left the area neglected and unsafe.
