Power Outage Disrupts Services at Achankovil Family Health Centre

For the past few days, power outages triggered by torrential rains have disrupted operations at the Family Health Centre in Achankovil, a remote forest-fringe village in Kollam.
In response, authorities have shifted essential medicines to Thenmala, located nearly 45 km away.
The health centre has long been a vital facility for the tribal community in the region. However, with unreliable transportation and poor connectivity, residents feel, travelling to Thenmala is not feasible.
Despite repeated complaints, authorities have yet to restore services in Achankovil. The power outage has continued for eight days due to strong winds and rain. The health centre's generator has also failed, leaving the hospital in complete darkness and causing significant hardship for patients.
