Oppn slams BJP as kin of Maha ministers elected unopposed in local polls
The New Indian Express Kollam
|November 22, 2025
OPPOSITION parties in Maharashtra are questioning how, in one local body election after another, relatives of BJP ministers are winning without any contest.
They allege this is not happening naturally and could be due to pressure, misuse of government machinery and the use of power to influence the process. Several leaders have warned that such incidents are not a good sign for democracy.
NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar said the trend looked less like a political coincidence and more like “family welfare schemes” for BJP leaders.
