Karunagappally Close to Attaining 'Extreme Poverty-Free' Status

THE KARUNAGAPPALLY municipality is on track to be declared free of extreme poverty, with comprehensive measures implemented under the state government's flagship initiative.
The poverty eradication project began in the 2022-23 financial year with door-to-door data collection through a dedicated mobile app. Each ward was assigned a team comprising one trained officer and two volunteers. Based on the data, 32 ultra-poor families were initially identified using indicators such as food, shelter, health, and subsistence income.
