A window of 120 days will be given to interested OEMs for applying

- Dipak Mondal & Arshad Khan @ New Delhi

The government is willing to extend the date for availing benefits under the proposed EV policy if Elon Musk's Tesla shows interest in applying for them. Government sources told TNIE that the new electric vehicle (EV) policy guidelines will be notified by March 15.

As per EV policy, after notification of the guidelines, a window of 120 days will be given to the interested OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) for applying under the scheme. If some carmakers are not able to apply under the stipulated date, the government is willing to extend the timeline. It must be noted that Tesla has not participated in any of the three stakeholders' consultations on the EV policy.
