Restoring investors' confidence in equity markets new Sebi chief's biggest challenge

THE new Sebi chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey, who was pulled out of North Block on Thursday to head the market regulatory body, has a tough task ahead.
The top-most task will be restoring confidence of investors both institutional and retail as the markets are bleeding and have lost 18% as of Friday from the peaks they have seen in September, restoring sanctity and impartiality of the corner office, and bringing back morale of staff that were dented during his predecessor Madhavi Puri Buch, accused of bringing in "a toxic work culture" to the Sebi Bhawan.
