Jane Street Case: I-T Dept Search Ops at Nuvama

The Income Tax Department on Thursday carried out search and survey operations at the premises of Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd, as part of a tax evasion probe linked to Jane Street, the US-based proprietary trading firm accused of market manipulation, official sources said.
According to sources, the department is conducting a "verification" exercise following recent regulatory action by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) against Jane Street. As part of the survey, officials are examining account books and computer records related to the US firm and its local associates.
