High Court breather for man denied posting as police constable under compassionate scheme

THE Kerala High Court has set aside an order rejecting a 37-year-old man's appointment under the compassionate employment scheme due to his past involvement in criminal cases.
The court held that there exists no relevant connection between the alleged offence and the nature of the post in question.
The court issued the order on a petition filed by Jijin R of Palakkad, whose mother was a part-time sweeper in the police department and died while in service in 2017. He challenged the decision not to appoint him as Police Constable (Driver) under the compassionate scheme.
The government made the decision citing that he was involved in six criminal cases.
