Congress suspends Sidhu’s wife after controversy over ₹500 cr remarks

AFTER a political backlash erupted over her “%500 crore for chief minister’s chair” remark, Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former cricketer and Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu, has been suspended from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect.

The decision was taken by Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring days after she claimed that it costs 500 crore to become chief minister of Punjab. She had also criticised her party colleagues when she made this statement. Her suspension order read: “Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu is, hereby, suspended from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect.”
