Sigachi Industries GM among the fatalities
At least 14 workers died and 35 others suffered injuries, some of them grievously, in a major explosion at a chemicals factory, Sigachi Industries, in Pashamylaram, Sangareddy district on Monday morning. The condition of two workers is said to be "very critical".
The blast razed the entire three-storey building, throwing several workers up to 100 metres away. The impact of the blast was felt up to 5 km away. The factory manufactures microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose powder.
