THIS little shop in a quiet corner of Thoppumpady is like a homage to the classic rocker style. Adam Crafts is a leather workshop where vintage leather accessories — like those associated with American bikers of the 80s — are handmade as per the customer's requirement.
The shop is run by Aji (who prefers using only his first name), a scuba diver and biker, whose journey from modest beginnings to skilled artisan is driven by passion and perseverance. "I started crafting when I was 14," says Aji.
"I began by carving shapes like stars and triangles out of coconut shells using a small hacksaw blade to make pendants. Later, I shifted to thread and made dreamcatchers and handbags, which were knit using wool."
