A 1st in Punjab, Pvt Players Purchase 10.79 LMT Wheat

PRIVATE players in Punjab purchased 10.79 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of wheat as the current rabi season came to a close, marking the highest-ever purchase by the private sector in the state's history.
The traders paid the farmers approximately ₹200 more than the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The highest purchase by private players was from Sangrur, the native district of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, at 2.43 lakh tonnes.
According to official data from the state food and supplies department, 130.5 lakh tonnes of wheat have been procured across Punjab until May 15, the last day of wheat procurement, with government agencies purchasing 119.2 lakh tonnes. The remaining 10.79 lakh tonnes were bought by private traders, marking the highest-ever purchase by the private sector.
