Youth attacks excise officer in Wayanad

In Bavali, Wayanad, an accused hit an excise officer who asked him to stop his vehicle during an inspection on Friday night.
The accused in drug cases are becoming violent during checks conducted by the police and the excise department as part of preventing drug sales and trafficking and are resorting to any means to escape from the officers. Shanid Saleem, 28, a native of Ambayathode, who swallowed an MDMA pack after seeing the police in Thamarassery, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Shanid had been living in his paternal grandmother's house in Ambayathode. On Friday, the police officers noticed Shanid in suspicious circumstances while they were on patrol in Ambayathode. As soon as Shanid saw the police vehicle, he took two packets of MDMA and tried to run away after swallowing them. Seeing this, the police chased him down and arrested Shanid.
