Teacher booked for posting voice clip against Onam fete in school

The Kunnamkulam police on Tuesday registered a case against a teacher who posted a voice clip urging Muslim students not to attend Onam celebrations in the school, as it was against Islamic beliefs.
Khadeeja, a teacher at Siraj Uloom English High School, Kallumpuram, was slapped with Section 192 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)--provocation that could lead to rioting.
As the issue became a major controversy with people from various quarters denouncing the teacher's actions, the school management suspended her from service pending inquiry.
In the voice note, the teacher exhorted Muslim students to not take part in Onam celebrations as it is a Hindu festival.
She urged parents to ensure that believers of Islam do not take part in the celebrations and also claimed that considering the same, the school management decided that Onam celebrations would be rather low-key this time around.
