Project 'Interval' redefines learning via value-based educational journeys

At a time when screen time often replaces green time, 'Interval'—a unique initiative by the women-led organisation World of Women (WOW)—is attempting to transform the way children learn by redefining school field trips as value-based educational journeys.

Launched across the Malabar region in July 2025, the project aims to reconnect students with nature and with themselves. It helps them explore life, nature, and humanity in ways traditional education often fails to capture. So far, WOW has partnered with 60 schools across five districts in North Kerala and completed four immersive journeys, including trips to Kakkad Eco Tourism site, Kavvayi Backwaters, and Kakkadampoyil.

"Children today are missing out on real-world exposure. Many of them are either becoming bookworms or mobile addicts. Interval is designed to bridge that gap, to plant seeds of curiosity, empathy, and awareness through meaningful experiences," said Nidiya Chandran, founder of World of Women.
