Hathkargha Mela' Handloom Fair Draws Unprecedented Attention

46 dedicated handloom stalls have been set up, 33 of which are put up by Kannur societies
The handloom fair in Kannur is enjoying a festive season like never before, with the ongoing Hathkargha Mela turning into a hub of excitement and strong sales. As Onam draws near, the response from customers has been overwhelming, and sales have already crossed Rs. 2.5 crore, putting the industry well on its way to achieving the ambitious Rs. 5 crore targets. This early success has instilled a new sense of confidence among weavers and handloom societies, who now believe that reaching the goal is within easy grasp.
Adding to the festive vibrancy, 46 dedicated handloom stalls have been set up this year, 33 of which are put up by societies from Kannur itself, showcasing the district's rich weaving tradition. For many weavers, this season is not just about record sales but also about proving that handloom, with its blend of tradition and innovation, continues to hold a special place in the hearts of people.
