RAILWAY Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the Ernakulam-Shoranur MEMU service will be extended to Nilambur. The issue was raised by MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The proposal was discussed during a meeting of Palakkad Railway Division officials convened by the MP in Van-door on May 5, where she highlighted the need for better connectivity to Nilambur.

The Southern Railway has been directed to introduce the train from an early convenient day. If required, the inaugural train may be planned as special service, said the Railway Board communication.
