THE Chandrayaan-4 programme has already been approved and this mission shall be planned as a sample return mission, said secretary of the Department of Space Dr V Narayanan here on Tuesday.

At the convocation ceremony of the Central University of Karnataka here, Dr Narayanan said that the Bharathiya Antariksha Station (BAS) shall be a reality by 2035 for which the initial modules in space shall start as early as 2027.

It has a capability of 1,000 times that of SLV3 and four times that of LVM3. You can imagine the complexity involved in these missions, and the degree of quality consciousness and levels to be displayed in each and every subsystem that we will be rolling out. The number of space assets is going to be increased to three fold in 4 to 5 years."
