In a major relief to income taxpayers, the government has extended the income tax return (ITR) filing deadline for Assessment Year (AY) 2024-25 from July 31, 2025, to September 15, 2025.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), in a circular issued on Tuesday, said the extension was necessitated due to substantial revisions in the ITR forms for AY 2025-26.
