Forest dept aims to plant 22 lakh saplings

THE Forest Department has announced a major green initiative for the upcoming monsoon season, setting an ambitious target of planting 22.21 lakh saplings across 10 forest ranges in Belagavi forest division.
The required saplings have already been prepared, and plantation activities will commence with the onset of rains.
This annual monsoon plantation drive is part of the department's sustained efforts to increase forest cover and preserve the ecological balance. Alongside plantation on forest land, the department also undertakes sapling plantation along roadsides, contributing further to the expansion of greenery.
