Awareness drive on reducing use of chemicals in cotton farming held

UNDER the joint initiative of Sahaja Samrudha and LDC (Life Diversity Center), a programme called 'Jagruti' was organised on managing pink bollworm in cotton in the premises of Shri Marateshwara Temple, Kalluru village in Sirwar taluk on Thursday.
As part of the awareness drive to reduce the use of chemicals and promote sustainable and natural practices, training was provided to farmers.
Girish, Research Analyst at LDC, said, "LDC is conducting awareness programmes for farmers to reduce the use of chemicals in cotton cultivation and is distributing pheromone traps to control pink bollworm. Installing four pheromone traps per acre can effectively control pests. The traps should be placed one foot above the crop, cleaned regularly, and kept in good condition."
