DISTRICT Minister M B Patil has said that in order to prevent rainwater from entering the city from ancient Begum Talab and outside the fort wall, works worth Rs 15 crore have been taken up and officials have been directed to seek sanction for an additional Rs 150 crore.
Speaking after inspecting the rain-affected areas in the city and reviewing the development works on Friday, he said that while temporary measures are being taken during the monsoon, a permanent solution will be implemented after the rainy season. The works are expected to be completed within six months to ensure that the city does not face a repeat of flood-like situations, the minister said.
