A significant fire aboard the Singapore-flagged cargo vessel MV Wan Hai 503, located approximately 76 nautical miles west of Beypore port in the Arabian Sea, has raised high alert levels in the Kozhikode district.
In response to fears of potential oil spills and marine pollution, collector Snehil Kumar Singh has ordered the district-level Pollution Response (PR) team to implement necessary arrangements for coastal cleanup and coordination in case of an emergency.
