The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the rape case against former Janata Dal (S) MP Prajwal Revanna was able to establish his culpability from the leaked video of his sexual aggression against his employee and her statement, said BK Singh, CID ADGP and the SIT chief.

Prajwal was sentenced to life imprisonment on Saturday.

Soon after the court sentence, in an exclusive interview with this paper, the SIT chief said evidence in the rape case rested on the "victim's statement, forensic science and tools including DNA profiling and matching of voice samples." The video had Prajwal and the victim's voice. The former's voice was forensically matched for identification. The victim had already given her statement. Forensic tools helped identify the perpetrator from his body parts in the leaked video, said Singh.
