AMID the high-stake Delhi election campaign, the Centre has given its nod to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute top leaders of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) for their alleged involvement in laundering proceeds of crime linked to the liquor scam case.

- MUKESH RANJAN @ New Delhi

Officials said on Wednesday that ED received the orders from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) earlier this month. The latest development in the case pertains to alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy for 2021-22.

The prosecution sanctions come when the two leaders are involved in election campaigning. Both are out on bail in the case after Kejriwal and Sisodia secured regular bail last year.
