BJP Allies to Have Edge as Move May Reshape UP Political Landscape

The New Indian Express Hyderabad

May 03, 2025

The Centre's decision to include caste enumeration in the census process is set to reshape the political landscape of Uttar Pradesh dominated by caste equations.

- NAMITA BAJPAI @ Lucknow

The move will give muscle to the BJP allies in the state to voice their demands for sub-quota within the OBC and SC/ST bracket.

BJP allies, including OP Rajbhar's Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP), Sanjay Nishad's NISHAD party and Anupriya Pate's Apna Dal (S), have been advocating for carving out caste sub-groups within the OBC and SC categories so that the quota benefits could be judiciously extended.
