This Gadag village has 3,000 people named after Goddess Satyamma

RESIDENTS of Hatalageri village in Gadag district has a unique trend. Most of the people here have been naming their newborns after Goddess Satyamma for the past many decades.
As a result, there are more than 3,000 villagers, out of the total population of 5,000, who go by the names Satyappa and Satyavva.
However, the villagers now want to change this trend as it is creating a lot of confusion especially while registering names to make government documents like ration cards and Aadhaar cards. Also, the villagers find it strange when many people respond when one person is called, due to the same name.
