NGO follows in the footsteps of Da Ra Bendre to promote green cause

With an aim to create awareness about nature, health and traditional values, members of Gelayara Balaga (Friends' Circle), an NGO, are following in the footsteps of famous poet Da Ra Bendre.

WITH an aim to create awareness about nature, health and traditional values, members of Gelayara Balaga (Friends' Circle), an NGO, are following in the footsteps of famous poet Da Ra Bendre.

It is said that on the first Monday of Shravan month, Bendre used to walk to Someshwara temple from Ulavi Chennabasaveshwar temple.

During his walk, he used to look at flowers, trees and other natural beauty which he used to mention in his writings.

Bendre is generally considered the greatest Kannada lyric poet of the 20th century and one of the greatest poets in the history of Kannada literature.
