From Plastic Waste To Colourful Pavers!
The New Indian Express Hubballi
|July 13, 2025
Wadi municipality, in partnership with Kalaburagi-based NGO Revive Waste Management, has launched a unique initiative to produce paver blocks and tiles using plastic waste collected in the town
ness, devoting his days to work and his evenings and nights to performances. "At times, I have had to take leave from business, when performances are scheduled in faraway places," he says. Frequently invited to Yakshagana melas for 'himmela' roles, he has performed with troupes such as Saligrama Mela, playing both chende and maddale. Inspired by his father, he continues to expand his repertoire, participating in events like those hosted by Karnataka Kala Darshini, Bengaluru. He has also worked with renowned theatre artiste late Udyavara Madhava Acharya in his experimental 'roopakas'. Ajith credits Yakshagana enthusiast Murali Kadekar for encouraging his ventures all these years. He also travelled to the United States last month, where he performed in a roopaka that blends Yakshagana and Bharatanatyam. The event was scheduled at the Three Aksha Institute of Performing Arts, Philadelphia.
Despite his demanding schedule, Ajith remains grounded in family life. He is supported by his wife Renuka, daughter Swayamprabha (Class 9), and son Shishir (Class 6), and ensures he spends quality time with them. His family remains a steady pillar behind his continued commitment to both Yakshagana and his business.
