Dumping of waste continues unabated in twin cities

DESPITE awareness campaigns started by the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC), dumping of waste like thermocol, building materials and plastic on open sites continues unabated on the outskirts of the twin cities.
For some industries, it has become a common practice to dump the waste, showing least concern for public health. They are not bothered about the residents who live in the vicinity where they dump the waste. To make things worse, fire is lit to the garbage which then emits toxic gases.
Someshwar Temple Road, Kakkayya Nagar and both sides of the Police Training School are flooded with garbage.
