AS part of the 175th anniversary celebration of the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC), a Rs 500-crore proposal has been prepared for submission to state and central governments. The decision was made during the corporation's recent general body meeting. Following this, Mayor Mangesh Pawar directed officials to draft the proposal and forward it to the authorities concerned.
In the recently held meeting, Belagavi South MLA Abhay Patil, who proposed the subject, had assured the council that he would make the necessary follow-up at the state and central government-level to provide Rs 250 crore funds each, if the corporation prepares a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and submits to the governments.
Following discussions and the Mayor's instructions, BCC officials have initiated action on the proposal. They have decided to organise a meeting involving the Mayor, leaders of the ruling and opposition groups, engineers and other officials. After discussions, the officials are expected to begin preparing a DPR based on the city's required development works.
