SAND dollars, tiny rare marine animals, have been found scattered all along the Devgad Island in Uttara Kannada, much to the surprise of marine experts as these are deep water species and are very rare to spot.
SAND dollars, tiny rare marine animals, have been found scattered all along the Devgad Island in Uttara Kannada, much to the surprise of marine experts as these are deep water species and are very rare to spot. Two researchers of marine biology, Kiran Vasudevamurthy and Shanawaz Rafique, have discovered more than 50 sand dollars.
"We found at least 50 of them on Devgad Island during our research," said Shanawaz Rafique, Senior Research Fellow, Coastal and Marine Ecosystem Cell, Karwar, Karnataka Forest Department.
