Officials Say There's More to Hampi Than Just Monuments
The eco and wildlife tourism in Hampi is being promoted in a big way, with the Department of Tourism training 25 guides exclusively for this purpose. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is not just about monuments, but is also known for its landscape, lush green agriculture fields and rich bio-diversity, which attract tourists not only from across India but also abroad.
"Most of the foreign tourists do not come to Hampi because it is a world heritage site or is full of monuments. There is something beyond these monuments — rocks and breathtaking landscape. The rocks, boulders, banana plantations, the scenic Anjanadri, Hemakoota and other places are most sought-after especially during sunrise and sunsets," said Thippanagouda, a guide here.
