The New Indian Express Coimbatore
|July 06, 2025
The crackdown by the Salem Division of the Southern Railway against fare evasion on trains has yielded a staggering ₹6.18 crore in penalties between April and June 2025.
The intensified ticket-checking drives targeted ticketless travel, irregular ticket usage, and unbooked luggage, with over 84,000 cases booked during the period.
The total fine amount of ₹6,18,80,803 marks a significant rise compared to the same quarter last year, underscoring the division's continued focus on ensuring passenger compliance. The success is credited to the dedicated efforts of the officers and ticket checking staff, under the guidance of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, M Vasudevan.
