A section of sanitary workers decide to resume work today
A section of sanitary workers in Coimbatore city is set to resume their work on Thursday as a few associations called off the protest on Wednesday evening after the civic body agreed to hike wages. However, a majority of the workers' associations revealed they will be continuing with their protest as the hiked daily wage of ₹770 wasn't provided by the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC).
Some workers' unions decided to end the three-day-old agitation after the CCMC agreed to hike wages to ₹20,454 and regularise the ESI and PF benefits provided to the sanitary workers.
