Cave-in on damaged Perks Arch Road gives motorists sinking feeling

A major portion of the Perks Arch Road, which has been left in a state of despair for long by the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC), caved in on Wednesday.
Motorists and residents have slammed the civic body and have demanded action at the earliest.
The Perks Arch Road is the major link road in Coimbatore city connecting two national highways, the Trichy Road and Avinashi Road.
The CCMC had earlier dug the road and had installed a water supply pipeline under the 24x7 water supply project, and paved a new road after the works were completed. Later, the road was dug up again for the UGD project but it was not repaired thereafter, leaving the whole stretch in a non-motorable condition.
