PUNJAB has been declared a disaster-affected state by the government, as 37 people have died across the state and 3.5 lakh people affected in 1,655 villages; besides, 19,474 people have been moved to safer places.
Around 4.32 lakh acres of farmland has been submerged in floodwater, leading to devastating crop losses just weeks ahead of harvesting, along with a widespread loss of livestock.
According to sources, Punjab chief secretary K.A.P. Sinha, who also chairs the state executive committee under the Disaster Management Act, 2025, has declared all 23 districts of the state as flood-affected.
