Bandmate detained, SIT raids houses of Zubeen’s manager, S’pore fest organiser

A Special Investigation Team (SIT), set up to probe the death of Assam’s music legend Zubeen Garg, has detained his longtime bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami. The SIT also raided the houses of Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser of the 4th Northeast India Festival, and Siddharth Sarma, the singer’s manager. According to a senior police officer, Goswami faces imminent arrest.

Tensions escalated as a large number of people attempted to storm Sarma’s house, suspecting he was inside. In response, the police restored order by using force. A crowd remained at the site when reports last came in. During this unrest, the SIT seized documents, including a laptop, from Sarma’s residence.
