'My mistake': Rahul on caste survey delay in Cong-ruled states
The New Indian Express Bhubaneswar
|July 26, 2025
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday openly admitted that failing to conduct a caste census in Congress-ruled states was his personal failure, especially in addressing the concerns of Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Speaking at the 'Bhagidari Nyay Sammelan' held for OBCs at Delhi's Talkatora Stadium, Gandhi took full responsibility for overlooking the issues of the OBC community during his 21-year political career and promised corrective action.
"I have been in politics since 2004, and when I reflect on my journey, I see where I did right and where I fell short. One mistake was not protecting the OBC section the way I should have," Gandhi said, addressing the gathering.
