Treasury bench raises 'Cong-Soros link', Oppn counters it with Adani
The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were again adjourned on Tuesday without transacting any major business as the BJP raised in Parliament the issue of alleged links of Congress leaders with American investor George Soros-backed outfits involved in "anti-India" activities, triggering vociferous protests from the Opposition which accused the government of stalling proceedings to divert attention from the Adani issue.
The Congress alleged that the BJP was "hiding behind" Soros and levelling silly allegations to save Gautam Adani.
As the Lok Sabha was reconvened at 12 noon after the Speaker adjourned it at 11 a.m., the Opposition erupted in protest over Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju's remarks. Speaking during Zero Hour, Rijiju accused the Congress and its leadership of colluding with Soros and anti-India forces, plunging the House into chaos and leading to its adjournment for the day.
The minister said the Congress leaders' stalling of Parliament was also depriving other members of the House from raising issues.
