WFI withdraws entries from 2nd Ranking Series

IN yet another disappointing news for Indian wrestlers, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on Monday wrote to the organiser, the Albanian Wrestling Federation, expressing its inability to send the team for the second Ranking Series scheduled in Tirana from February 26 to March 2.
The development might be a big setback for the wrestlers especially when they are running from pillar to post seeking an appointment with the sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya to end the deadlock between the federation and the sports ministry. "We have informed the Albanian federation that we cannot send the team," WFI president Sanjay Kumar Singh told this daily. Notably, the WFI chief had also sought time from the sports minister but apparently failed to get an appointment. "I requested his PA and he told me he will get back to me. So far, I haven't received any reply," added Sanjay Kumar.
