Drug resistance risks in cancer care & surgical procedures raise concern

AS antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is emerging as a major public health concern in India, the Centre has rolled out a new and updated National Action Plan to address the crisis.
Launching the national plan on the first day of the WHO’s World AMR Awareness Week (November 18-24), Union Health Minister JP Nadda emphasised that antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major public health concern that can only be addressed through collective action. Highlighting the gravity of the challenge, he said that AMR poses significant risks, particularly in surgical procedures, cancer treatment, and other critical healthcare interventions.
