Mississauga becomes 2nd Canada city to condemn Hinduphobia

THE City Council of Mississauga, the seventh-largest municipality in Canada, has passed a resolution to recognise anti-Hindu hate, in what is being hailed as a landmark victory for Hindu Canadians.

In reaffirming its commitment to combat racism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and all forms of hate and discrimination, the City Council, part of the Greater Toronto Area, emphasised that it is equally important to condemn Hinduphobia, the resolution noted. Mississauga in Ontario province is the second city after Wainwright in Alberta to pass such a motion.

The motion, which cited reports of incidents of anti-Hindu hate across Canada and within the city, was passed unanimously on Wednesday.
