Expansion of Plamaner-Krishnagiri & Chittoor-Kurnool stretches will enhance access to educational institutions & industrial hubs in region
In a major development aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and road safety, the Government of India has approved the widening of two key National Highway stretches in southern Andhra Pradesh into four-lane corridors.
Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has sanctioned the expansion of the Plamaner-Krishnagiri stretch via Kuppam and the Chittoor-Kurnool stretch via Rangampeta. Both roads, which link AP with neighbouring States - Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana - have long been known for traffic congestion and accidents, due to their narrow structure and lack of dividers as single-lane roads.
The Plamaner-Krishnagiri highway, spanning 97 kilometers, plays a strategic role by connecting NH-42 at Plamaner with NH-44 at Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu.
